Lauded for “revolutionizing charitable giving” by the Daily Record, hailed as inventor of the “eBay of Giving” by the Mercury News, and praised as the mastermind behind “Facebook Meets Pocketbook” by The Sun—Alexander Blass, the youngest grand prize winner of the Top Innovator of the Year Award—is one of the world’s most well known and inspirational social entrepreneurs and innovators.
Frequently interviewed by the media and the subject of several cover stories, he is a highly sought after keynote speaker, Master Class presenter, invited expert, and consultant in the United States and around the world. He enjoys sharing his vast expertise, insight, passion, vision, and fascinating experiences with business audiences, non-profits, charitable organizations, university students, and associations. He has travelled to nearly 40 countries in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Africa, and is passionate about inspiring and educating others, helping them to succeed.
Wharton-educated and an Oxford MBA, Alexander Blass is the acclaimed visionary and founding CEO of RealityCharity, the world’s first person-to-person giving platform and philanthropy community which he invented, patented, designed, and launched worldwide. He has improved and inspired countless lives across the globe through his work. In addition to receiving the Top Innovator of the Year Award, Alexander won the Influential Marylanders Award as well, recognizing the top 50 people in the State, up to the Governor. He is also the recipient of the prestigious international WebAward for Outstanding Achievement from the Web Marketing Association, and the Top 40 Under 40 Executives Award by the Baltimore Business Journal. Mr. Blass has also been honored as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the renowned Wharton School of Business.
A serial entrepreneur, he started his first company as a teenager, a mail order computer business over the Internet, before the world-wide web even existed. He later founded and operated a successful domain name registration company in 1998 when he was just 23 and a graduate student in electrical engineering and business at the University of Pennsylvania, studying emerging technologies under famed Internet pioneer Dr. David Farber.
Over his distinguished career, Alexander has also held posts as a venture capitalist, investment banker, management consultant, senior government executive, and software developer involving opportunities in excess of $1 billion. He has been honored as an invited expert at the National Science Foundation outside Washington, DC on many occasions, evaluating over $100 million of new technologies for the United States government. For three years, he served on the monthly investment committee of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation, as well as the NeoTech Business Incubator advisory board. Alexander has been on the board of a number of for-profit and non-profit organizations in the United States and internationally, and has consulted innumerable CEOs, entrepreneurs, executives and corporations on issues related to their business development, growth strategy, venture capital and financing, innovation, sales and marketing.
The American son of a Holocaust survivor from Budapest, Alexander learned the sanctity and gift of human life at an early age. The values instilled in him as child, as well as some extraordinary international experiences, ultimately led him to leave a high ranking position at a venture capital firm at the age of 31, to follow his passion and make a real difference in our world and the lives of other people. After getting tired of seeing countless stories in the news of good people in need not getting the help they required, he decided to do something about it. He realized that it was the perfect time in the evolution of the Internet to marry the principles of social networking and the psychological principle of “six degrees of separation” with philanthropy and fundraising. Under his leadership and vision as CEO and Founder, Alexander Blass helped make RealityCharity an overnight sensation when its launch story appeared around the world in the Associated Press on its very first day, and immediately began changing the lives of countless people across the globe. In its first year alone, the revolutionary platform received over 10 million hits and hosted thousands of fundraisers ranging from wounded veterans, to cancer patients, to disaster victims, to non-profits; supporting fundraisers in 50 countries.
